Freelance React developer

React applications, existing codebases and API integrations. I am a freelance developer in Zaandam, next to Amsterdam, working across frontend and backend.

Working with what is already there

I work on React products as well as building with Svelte. An existing application has users, integrations and decisions behind it. My starting point is to understand those before deciding what needs to change.

The work can be an interface, an integration, a backend change or a rebuild. I am particularly interested in tools that people use daily, where small decisions about forms, permissions and loading states add up.

Apps connected to an organisation

For ThuiszorgInHolland I worked on a React app for care workers, clients and applicants, connected to AFAS. Access depends on information in the organisation’s payroll system. The same application also runs in a Capacitor shell.

UpLinked uses React and Convex. My work there covered the backend, agents, prompt system, migration and billing. The migration moved 196,000 rows from Bubble; keeping the product’s data intact mattered more than introducing a new stack.

Earlier work includes SPJ’s React website and editorial system, and Handlefy’s React Native inventory and storage app. The case studies below explain my role and the constraints of each project.

A useful first conversation

Show me the flow that is difficult for your users, or the part of the codebase that is difficult to change. We can work out whether it needs a small repair, a new feature or something more substantial.

• Employee and client app for a home-care organisation, keyed to AFAS

  One app for care workers, clients and applicants, with no database of its own: the website is the backend, and who may log in is decided by an hourly sync from the AFAS payroll system.

• UpLinked, an AI LinkedIn content platform rebuilt from Bubble on Convex

  A LinkedIn writing tool for Dutch entrepreneurs, moved off Bubble onto Convex with six agents, a versioned prompt database, three models writing every post, and 196,000 rows carried across.

• Website and editorial system for SPJ

  A bilingual site and headless editorial system for a financial and corporate communications agency, keeping its news, people, services, cases and transaction record in one place.

• An inventory, storage network and operations app for Handlefy

  A mobile inventory and storage service where people photographed their belongings, arranged pickup or return, and where the operations team placed each item in a numbered storage unit.
