Freelance web development near Amsterdam

I am Merijn van Wouden, a freelance web developer in Zaandam, next to Amsterdam. I build web applications, integrations and tools for everyday work.

From an idea to something people use

I work on the interface and the software behind it. That includes new applications, taking over existing products and connecting systems that were not designed together. I like UX puzzles, especially in tools people use every day.

Svelte and Convex are favourites. I also work with React, Node.js and other technologies when they fit the project. The choice follows the users, the existing system and the work that needs to be done.

Examples

For ThuiszorgInHolland I worked on an app connected to AFAS, where payroll information determines access. Multihaarden combines a web shop, a headless CMS and payments. Guidesty is a group travel planner where everyone edits the same itinerary.

Zaandam, Amsterdam and further afield

Technologies

Selected work

  • ThuiszorgInHolland: care-worker app connected to AFAS

For a home care organization, I connected AFAS to the recruitment website and care app: employee and client records coming in, vacancies and applications going out.

  • Multihaarden: fireplace webshop

I built Multihaarden’s storefront, API and editorial tools from scratch: a media-rich fireplace shop that scores 100 on Lighthouse, ahead of all its competitors.

  • Guidesty: group travel planner

Guidesty is a cooperative travel planner where a group of travellers can build an itinerary, vote on ideas and split the bill. I founded it with my longtime friend Mohamed and it's under active development.
